We describe a novel hybrid control scheme for controlling the voltage of a DC-DC zeta converter operating in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). In a hybrid control scheme, the switching functions are critical to the closed-loop stability of the converter. The switching requirements needed for mode transitions are enforced by these routines. In our work, we present a mathematical model that constrains the rate of steady-state backward switching. Since the model is defined in terms of the steady-state switching frequency that can be used to design the converter, DCM operation can be guaranteed. The simulation results support our proposed control strategy.
