Distributed power generators and energy storage systems are expected to provide additional services that will be extremely valuable to micro-level smart grids. These services need to be integrated into microgrid control systems. In this study, the idea of pseudo-charge state is developed to improve the management of energy storage systems. In addition, techniques for remote control of PV string actuators that do not interfere with the inverter have been proposed and put into practise in a smart microgrid network. The reliability of the microgrid operation based on iterative algorithms is compared with an alternative microgrid architecture and control technique. Experimental results demonstrate the advantages of the new strategy.
