Early Warning System for Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) | Description: Creating a remote sensing and sensor-based Early Warning System (EWS) for the GLOF occurrences using IoT and machine learning. Potential Impact: Allows sufficient time for evacuation and remedial measures and therefore prevents loss of lives and properties in the areas prone to GLOF. | Abstract |
Real-Time Disaster Information Aggregation Software | Description: This infrastructure project is aimed at developing a system such that people will be able to gather and track real time all disaster activities on social media and other sources including the news. Potential Impact: Given this time period, it is possible to prepare effective actions to minimize the consequences of the disaster, leading ultimately to a decrease in the number of people and property lost in the flood prone regions. | Abstract |
