Course Curriculum of Mechanical Engineering: Subjects, Core Concepts and Practical Applications

by Kartika Musle

Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and core branches of engineering. Meanwhile, it also focuses on applying mathematical and physical concepts to develop and maintain machines. Let us learn more about the Course Curriculum of Mechanical Engineering and the core concepts, and applications that are covered in this curriculum.

What is Mechanical Engineering?

Mechanical Engineering

Machine design, analysis, and development are all part of mechanical engineering. In other words, it includes designing, creating, and improving machine devices and systems using the concepts of physics, mathematics, and material science. In addition, the tasks that engineers in this field work on range from designing existing vehicles and machinery to creating brand-new vehicles, machinery, and robotics.

Education in Mechanical Engineering

If you are a student considering studying Mechanical Engineering, Then most importantly you should be aware that this course is divided into three programs.

 1. Diploma

Firstly this curriculum is recommended after 10th grade and most importantly does not require completing junior college or any entrance exams in order to get selected for an undergraduate engineering college On the other hand this three-year educational program covers all of the basic subjects taught at the advanced level in Degree College or Btech.

 2. Btech or Bachelor of Technology

Secondly, after completing junior college, students typically enroll in a four-year Btech degree. However, they need to pass the MHCET Entrance Exam in order to enroll in the program. Students can only enroll in Btech colleges after passing this entrance exam. Likewise, Mechanical engineering diploma holders can also enroll in Btech colleges. The benefit is that students can begin the Btech program straight away in the second year. This curriculum is only three years long and does not require an entrance exam for diploma holders

 3. M.Tech or Masters of Technology

Further, Mtech is a course in which you Master Mechanical Engineering by learning all of the core subjects at a higher level and dealing with research and advanced learning of specialized concepts. It is generally a two-year learning. However, if you have prior job experience, the duration is reduced to one year.
