Assessing Supply Chain Finance Adoption Barriers In Indian Banking: A Best-worst Method Framework Analysis

The implication therefore is that, barriers in the banking industries supply chain influences its productivity and efficiency and hinders the execution of its strategies. This research work aims at identifying and ranking the challenges of SCF adoption to the banking industry. It has a three step evaluation process to determine the most critical factors to the practice of SCF. A literature review was conducted which led to the identification of over one hundred barriers out of which ten were selected because of their frequency. To finalise the barriers, questionnaires were used in the second step to take experts’ opinion. In the final step, there is the usage of the Best-Worst Method for the purpose of the prioritization and ranking of the barriers. Potential barriers for SCF were also identified by a detailed analysis of the literature and submissions from the business world. BWM approach findings show that the ‘The limitations are that Technology and Information related barriers’ are constraining and are the major issue stopping the banking industry from growing; this is followed by External and Organizational Barrier’. Specific barriers, and of course, ‘An inadequate technological system and poor technological capability’ is an important barrier that they need elaborated specification from the upper levels of management. This research is confined to the barriers of SCF adoption in the banking industry; other barriers have not been studied. Research in this case is done from the perspective of the expert researchers to obtain data pertinent to the Indian environment. Those planning and executing plans to AG could possibly find this research very relevant because it maps the present day effort towards the full realization of SCF in the banking industry. These details are useful in assembling information about the banking industry problems when assessing SCF barriers and finding out answers to questions as to which of them are better to pay primary attention to.
