The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has decided to cancel the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination in order to maintain the highest standards of transparency and the integrity of the examination process, the ministry stated in a statement.
The exam is cancelled because of potential misconduct. It also stated that there was a possibility that the examination’s integrity had been compromised.
“There will be a new investigation, for which distinct information will be provided. The Central Bureau of Investigation (C.B.I.) will concurrently receive the case for a comprehensive investigation,” the ministry continued.
Due to the fact that UGC received “certain inputs” from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, all students who took the UGC-NET June 2024 exam on Tuesday, June 18, must retake it. Dates will be announced soon.
According to UGC Chairperson M Jagadesh Kumar, 317 cities across the nation had the attendance of almost 81% of the 11.21 lakh registered applicants for the NET exam.
The purpose of the UGC-NET exam is to assess an Indian national’s eligibility for the positions of “Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor” and “Assistant Professor” at Indian colleges and universities. The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the UGC-NET using computer-based testing (CBT).
