This study classifies cryptocurrencies according to their market capital so as to determine the extent and describe what various parts of the market holds. In general, it will be important for our goals that our database comprises a large number of cryptocurrencies since we aim at analyzing the characteristics of the cryptocurrencies and their changes, and thus, the obtained insights will reflect the trends on the market.
Our methodology includes:
- Data Collection: Gathering information about cryptocurrencies, basically their total market value, trading volume, and historical prices..
- Classification: Categorising of Crypto currencies according with their market capitalisations; for instance, large cap, mid-cap and small cap.
- Statistical Analysis: analysing the dispersion and the details of each recognised market segment using statistical methods.
Thus, some gaps from the quantitative perspective are revealed with high cap currencies — they have more stable and liquid compared to low cap coins. Also, we examine the behaviors which occur in the market for instance the correlation of the market value to the probability of high oscillations.
It is extremely pertinent to investors and market analysts that these results provide important information regarding the possible threat/vulnerability associations for diverse submarkets in the cryptocurrency market.
