Analysis of supply chain challenges in implementation of industry 4.0 for textile sector

The integration of I4. 0 technology is causing a revolution in the textile sector as its integration into the 0 sector seems to unlock efficiency, flexibility and competitiveness. However, the implementation of I4 narrowly focuses for The understanding and the successful implementation of the concepts, models and frameworks there requires assessment and recognition of the environment that a firm operates within. A lack of innovation takes place at 0 in the global textile supply chain. The purpose of this thesis is to discover which SC challenges occur when companies try to integrate I4. Having started from zero in the textiles sector, the aim here is to shift the focus towards processes, technologies, as well as other actors in the process. From the literature and from expert opinions it was understand that these challenges were of the operational, organizational and human factors. Some of the challenges that organisations encounter when implementing operational technologies are as follows; Organisational concerns: Interoperability and cybersecurity: Cybersecurity remains a major concern when it comes to implementing new technologies for Operations technology since many systems used for OT are not originally designed with their own security in mind due to cost constraints: Cost concerns: Technology and upgrades: The general cost of the Technology as well as upgrades are relatively expensive which places a lot of pressure on Lurking at the organizational level are resistance to change, lack of planning for the digital and the reality that it is expensive in terms of infrastructure. These are skill shortage, employees’ productivity, and ensuing organizational culture to adapt to the digital environment. The challenges have been ranked using Best Worst Method which assigns weightage to the challenges and have been classified in to cause-and-effect using DEMATEL (Decision making trial and evaluation laboratory). Tackling the issues of industry 4. I4, that is why proper identification of these facets accessible at 0 can contribute to decision making as well as planning and if the issues that are considered in further sections are solved, the stakeholders will be able to achieve the transition to I4. 0 to sustain organic growth and competitiveness and hence;
