Abstract: Description:: One of the primary challenges during Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) operations is searching for the bodies that are buried under the rubble. Standard command procedures take time and require many casualties to minimize. This problem statement invites technology solutions that increase the potential of body detection during CSSR operations.
Expected Outcome: The project will advance the development of undersized yet sophisticated handheld or unmanned aerial vehicles armed with thermal imagers and GPR systems to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of body recovery operations, thus reducing the number of fatalities in the course rescues.
