Air India’s Bengaluru MRO Facility: A Boost for Jobs and Aviation

Bengaluru, India– As a press release received in the turn of the New Year, Air India has embarked upon a new ask for a major project, laying the foundational works on its new Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Bangalore International Airport. This is indeed a go-getting initiative for the Indian super-economy and jobs creation, as the aim is to boost the country’s aircraft maintenance self-service functionality.

A Milestone in the History of Indian Aviation

The MRO facility will be 35 acres in Airport with sophisticated aircraft maintenance equipment including an ultra-modern hanger with a capacity for narrow and wide bodied aircraft. They included people like Air India CEO Mr. Campbell wilson’, Gunjan Krishna from Karnataka Department of Industries & Commerce and aeroports Bengalore India Ltd, CEO, Mr. Hari Marar.

Boosting such interlinkages with the local economy will greatly contribute to the self-sustainability of Air India and such fortunes. Campbell Wilson stated that the MRO center will serve as the core hub for maintaining the airline’s fleet, driving its modernization, and supporting global growth.

Economic Impact: Job Creation and Investment

The construction of the MRO facility will add 1200+ direct, skilled aerospace engineers jobs to the economy. Moreover, the potential of the activities of the MRO unit could expand the indirect occupations up to seven times more benefiting the economy at large. It is worth noting that the investment of Rs 1,400 crore brings forth Air India’s commitment to strengthen the India`s aviation market and decrease the approach towards foreign MRO companies.

Strategic Partnership with SIA Engineering Company

To enhance quality and productivity, Air India integrated with SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC).This partnership aims to invite foreign knowledge to the MRO unit and improve the airline’s in-house engineering.

Investing in Future Talent

Air India also places importance on the availability of future force in the profession of aviation engineers. In 2025, the Basic Maintenance Training Organisation (BMTO) will be set up at Bengaluru by the airline. Such an initiative will be able to make large contributions to about 50 engineers annually in support of the increasing treatment of aircraft maintenance pressure.

Maximizing the Potential of Indian Aviation Industry

Based on the contributions, the new MRO facility at Bengaluru is expected to contribute to the growth of Indian aviation. Air India’s efforts in enhancing its MRO capabilities and training domestic professionals add to the vision of making India’s aviation sector self-sufficient.
