Sensor-Based System for Monitoring Earthing Systems

Hardware

Organization: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Smart Cities Mission

Abstract: This work presents the proposal for applying a Sensor-Based Monitoring System to earthing systems, permanently monitoring the status of earthing systems at electric substations and warning maintenance teams with the occurrence of some problem.

Key Components:

  • Earth Leakage Detection: Detect earth leakage currents and ensure the integrity of the earthing system.
  • Real-Time Alerts: Send real-time alerts to maintenance teams in case of equipment/system malfunctions.
  • Centralized Monitoring: Data is transmitted to a centralized location for continuous monitoring and analysis.

Expectation: The system will help in enhancement of safety by monitoring proper working of earthing systems and thereby reducing the risk of electrical shocks in public as well as industrial areas.
