Development of a Versatile and Fast Algorithm for Optimal Ship Routing

Abstract: Description: The purpose of this project is to design an algorithm for ship route optimization with respect to the cost, safety and duration of operation. The routing algorithm should be of different types which are flexible for different ship types, and even change based on real-time geographical and weather information.

Expected Outcome: Outcomes expected to be achieved from the project include a routing algorithm that is sufficiently adaptable to improve efficacy and safety of the maritime industry, with a focus on effective usage of fuel and appropriate management of the routes used in the shipping industry.
